About the Past Lieutenant Governors (PLG’s)

The first annu­al meet­ing of the Past Lieu­tenant Gov­er­nors was held on Mon­day, August 13, 1984.  The orig­i­nal com­mit­tee bylaws and fee struc­ture report was sched­uled on the agen­da of the first Dis­trict Board meet­ing of the Kiwa­nis year 1984/1985.

Since the cre­ation of this Dis­trict Com­mit­tee, changes have occurred, notably the com­mit­tee has poli­cies not bylaws since we are com­mit­tee of the Dis­trict not a sep­a­rate enti­ty.   We cre­at­ed a Vision State­ment and a Mis­sion State­ment to pro­vide our com­mit­tee with a direc­tion and a purpose:

Vision Statement

As an engaged group of Kiwa­nis lead­ers with­in our diverse and unique Dis­trict of East­ern Cana­da and the Caribbean, the PLG Com­mit­tee is com­mit­ted to build­ing a strong viable Dis­trict.  We work close­ly with all Dis­trict gov­ern­ing bod­ies, and par­tic­u­lar­ly Club lead­ers, in devel­op­ing and imple­ment­ing inno­v­a­tive ways to ensure the Dis­trict main­tains its role as the pre­mier Ser­vice Orga­ni­za­tion deliv­er­ing need­ed ser­vices to the chil­dren of the District.

Mission Statement

The Dis­trict PLG Com­mit­tee, through Region­al and Divi­sion­al sub-com­mit­tees, will ensure all PLGs will be able to par­tic­i­pate in the future of our Dis­trict.  We will active­ly par­tic­i­pate, along with the Exec­u­tive, and Board Trustees in the devel­op­ment of the devel­op­ment of the Dis­trict bylaws and poli­cies and pro­ce­dures.  We will play an active role in Dis­trict activ­i­ties includ­ing Dis­trict con­ven­tions and Region­al meet­ings.  We will work close­ly with club Lead­ers to effect pos­i­tive changes in mem­ber­ship growth and ser­vice.  We are com­mit­ted to a sus­tain­able Dis­trict through pos­i­tive involve­ment of all PLGs
